Windows 7 – Add an item to ‘new’ context menu

The following registry entry can be used to add an additional file type to the ‘new’ context menu.

MSWin7-NewContextMenu1

To use, simply copy to a new text file and save as ‘newadditional.reg’ and run.

In this example we’ll be adding ‘VBS Script File’ to the ‘new’ context menu.

If you need to add a different file type, simply change the extension from .vbs to the extension you require.
