Extract the Adobe Reader 10 install files

The following steps detail how to extract the Adobe Reader 10.x installation files (AcroRead.msi etc) from the compressed executable.

This is usually done to deploy the software using ConfigMgr.

  1. Download the latest EXE installer from  ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/
  2. Save to your C:\
  3. Open Start > Run
  4. Run: “AdbeRdr1000_en_US.exe” -nos_ne
  5. Click ‘OK’ to start decompressing the file
  6. Once completed the extracted files will be saved to
      1. Windows XP
    %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Adobe\Setup\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-AA0000000001}
      1. Windows 7 / Vista
    %ProgramData%\Adobe\Setup\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-AA0000000001}
  7. Copy the files to your distribution point for deploying to clients.
