[SOLVED] SCCM OS Deployment – No boot filename received

Problem:

When attempted to do a SCCM PXE OS Deployment you get the following error ‘PXE-E53: No boot filename received’.

The OS Deployment does not start.

In the smspxe.log file you will find the following entries:

Executing LookupDeviceDevice(<GUID>,<MAC Address> CDatabaseProxy :: LookupDevice succeeded 0 0 0 0 MAC=<MAC Address> SMBIOS GUID=<GUID> > Device not found in the database.

SCCM-NoBootFilenameReceived

Solution:

This error usually occurs when the computer is not found in the database or there is no ‘Unknown computers’ advertisment.

To resolve manually import the computer into the ConfigMgr database.

Afterward, you may need to restart the WDS service to get the computer to boot.
