The Windows startup folder can be used to run scripts or software when users log into a computer and is typically used to run user specific commands – such as a connecting to network printer. When a user logs into the computer Windows will check the folder and run the contents as the user. However without a doubt, whenever I need to find the folder it proves elusive.
Windows XP users will remember this folder sitting in another location, and if you’re like me you’re probably thinking about the old path.
For the record, the path for Windows 7 and Windows 8 is ….
For a specific user:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
For all users:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
